Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh highlights Noida as India’s leading textile employment hub, boosting jobs and sector growth.
Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Textiles described Noida as the largest employment hub in India’s textile sector and projected the industry’s market size to expand to $350 billion by 2030. Speaking at the Annual Awards for Outstanding Export Performance organized by the Noida Apparel Export Cluster, the minister acknowledged the support of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the region’s development.
He noted that Noida has emerged as a leading centre for textile employment nationwide. Highlighting broader industry growth, Singh stated that the textile sector has generated employment for over five crore people in the past decade, second only to agriculture in job creation. The minister also pointed to rising purchasing power within the textile segment, describing it as a reflection of India’s economic progress. He expressed confidence that the industry is on track to achieve a market valuation of $350 billion in the coming years.
Singh underlined Noida’s growing stature as a global apparel export hub, stating that the cluster has created lakhs of jobs and contributed significantly to India’s textile and apparel exports. He attended the event alongside Member of Parliament Mahesh Sharma. According to the Ministry of Textiles, the awards ceremony highlighted Noida’s expanding role in strengthening India’s textile and apparel ecosystem.
The ministry reiterated that the sector remains a critical driver of economic growth, MSME development, entrepreneurship and increased participation of women in the workforce. The event underscored Noida’s strategic importance in India’s textile export landscape and reinforced the government’s emphasis on scaling up the industry to meet long-term growth targets.
