190 Acres industrial land Allotted in PM MITRA Park Virudhnagar in Tamilnadu; ₹2,192 cr. Investment to generate 15,000 Jobs
PM MITRA Park in Virudhnagar secures 190 acres with ₹2,192 crore investment, expected to generate 15,000 jobs in Tamil Nadu’s textile sector.

A total of 190.44 acres of industrial land has been allotted to 23 investors by the Board of Directors of PM MITRA Park Tamil Nadu Ltd., unlocking committed investments of approximately ₹2,192.21 crore and creating potential for around 15,000 jobs. The approved proposals cover a wide range of textile segments including integrated manufacturing units, yarn production, fabric manufacturing, processing and finishing facilities, garment units and technical textiles.

The land allocation decisions were finalized during the 9th Board Meeting of PM MITRA Park Tamil Nadu Ltd. (SPV), chaired by Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles. The meeting was attended by Rohit Kansal, Arun Roy Vijayakrishnan and Senthil Raj Krishnan, along with representatives from NICDC, the Ministry of Textiles and SIPCOT.

The Board observed that the strong investor participation reflects growing industry confidence in the Park’s planning, governance model and long-term competitiveness. The allotment at the Park located in Virudhunagar is expected to fast-track the development of an integrated textile value chain spanning yarn, fabric and garment production. The region is already a significant hub for textile and apparel manufacturing and exports, and the Park is poised to further strengthen this ecosystem.

A 20 MLD Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) facility at the Park will support environmentally sustainable processing operations, benefiting multiple units including small and medium enterprises.

The Virudhunagar Park is one of seven mega textile parks being developed under the PM MITRA Scheme. The project is being implemented at an estimated cost of ₹1,894 crore and will feature a 15 MLD CETP with ZLD, a 20 MW solar power plant, centralized steam boilers and nearly 13 lakh square feet of ready-to-move plug-and-play industrial units.

Strategically located along National Highway NH 44 and approximately 106 km from Tuticorin Port, the Park offers strong logistics connectivity along with access to a well-established textile ecosystem. Infrastructure works worth nearly ₹550 crore are currently underway within and around the Park site, with completion targeted by December 2027.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, policy-driven and ecosystem-focused development of the PM MITRA Park in Tamil Nadu, aimed at strengthening India’s integrated textile value chain and enhancing the country’s global competitiveness in the sector.
