SKF India will invest ₹653 crore to build a ‘Factory of the Future’ in Pune, enhancing advanced manufacturing and industrial capacity.
SKF India (Industrial) Limited has announced an investment of ₹653 crore to establish a next-generation ‘Factory of the Future’ in Pune, reinforcing its long-term manufacturing strategy in India.
The new facility, expected to be operational by 2030, represents a significant expansion of SKF India (Industrial)’s advanced manufacturing footprint and underlines the company’s commitment to digitalization, sustainability and supply chain resilience. Designed as a lean, clean and digitally enabled manufacturing campus, the plant is expected to set new benchmarks in operational efficiency, productivity and environmental performance.
The ‘Factory of the Future’ will integrate intelligent systems, real-time data insights and energy-efficient operations to support higher-quality output and faster responsiveness. The project will consolidate SKF India (Industrial)’s existing production channels in Pune while also adding new manufacturing capabilities, creating a scalable backbone aligned with global best practices.
Commenting on the announcement, Sujeeth Pai, Director – Manufacturing Operations for India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East (ISEAM), SKF India (Industrial) Limited, said the investment reflects confidence in India’s evolving manufacturing ecosystem.
He noted that the facility marks a fundamental shift in manufacturing approach, combining full digital integration with sustainability-led design. The project, he said, is not merely about capacity expansion but about building resilient, agile and globally competitive manufacturing capabilities anchored in India, while accelerating localization and strengthening supply chains.
The new plant is expected to enhance SKF India (Industrial)’s ability to support critical sectors such as energy, railways, metals and mining, and other heavy industries, enabling quicker response times and deeper localization as India strengthens its position as a global advanced manufacturing hub.
