The state, known for its strong manufacturing base and skilled workforce, contributed the highest share to the nation’s total textile exports, outperforming other traditional hubs across India. The knitwear cluster of Tirupur played a pivotal role, recording higher export volumes across major markets like the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. In addition to knitwear, home textiles from Karur and woven fabrics from Erode and Salem significantly boosted the state’s overall export figures.
Industry experts believe Tamil Nadu’s success is not a mere coincidence but the result of years of focused efforts. Many textile manufacturers in the state have embraced eco-friendly practices, including renewable energy usage, organic raw materials, and zero liquid discharge systems.
