The state government plans to set up a new textile park in Gopalpur village to boost industrial growth, create jobs, and strengthen the regional textile ecosystem.
A textile park will be established in Jajpur’s Gopalpur village to turn the district into a major textile hub and create hundreds of jobs, said state finance secretary Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra.
In 2009, Gopalpur tussar received a Gl tag from the govt. “The state govt will facilitate cluster based development to make the weavers more productive profitable and capable of generating sustained employment opportunities and to join the economi value chain under the scheme. A common facility centre, reeling centre, training centres and integrated selling point near the national highway will also be constructed to promote silk items of Gopalpur soon,” Mishra said.
“Under the Mukhyamantri Bayan Jyoti Yojana scheme, about 2,000 Gopalpur weavers have already received support for inverters and lighting equipment,” he added.
Mishra said, “Tussar silk saris of Gopalpur village are famous due to the specialised weaving techniques adopted by the weavers and demand for these exquisite works. The village has plenty of skilled and gifted weavers having great artistic dexterity.”
