CTA Apparels Hails Launch Of India–EFTA Trade And Economic Partnership Agreement

India EFTA trade agreement
CTA Apparels has welcomed the launch of the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), effective October 1, 2025.

As India’s first trade pact with a European bloc, the agreement marks a significant step toward deeper economic integration with Europe. TEPA offers substantial tariff reductions, duty-free access on 99% of goods, and a commitment of US$ 100 billion in investments from EFTA nations over the next 15 years. This initiative is expected to create one million direct jobs in India, linking market access with long-term investment and growth.

For the apparel and textile sector, TEPA opens new avenues for export expansion, sustainable production partnerships, and entry into premium European markets. CTA Apparels sees the agreement as a catalyst for innovation, competitiveness and global leadership in fashion and textile supply chains.

Dr. Mukesh Kansal, Chairman, CTA Apparels, said, “The India–EFTA trade agreement is a landmark step that merges global opportunities with domestic advancement. For the apparel and textile industry, it enables export growth, adoption of sustainable practices, and engagement with Europe’s high-value markets. At CTA Apparels, we are confident this agreement will strengthen India’s position as a trusted partner in global fashion and textiles, creating value for our economy, workforce and environment.”
