Belarus and Uzbekistan implement joint projects in agriculture and the textile industry, strengthening bilateral cooperation and sector growth.

Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksander Turchin held a meeting in Minsk with a delegation of business representatives from Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Davron Vakhabov. The visit was organised in fulfilment of the agreements reached during the official visit of the Belarusian head of government to Tashkent in February this year. This was reported by BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.

The delegation that arrived in the Belarusian capital included entrepreneurs working in livestock farming, construction and design. Among the objectives of the visit are the opening of a Uzbekistan Trade House and a restaurant of Uzbek cuisine in Minsk, the establishment of Uzbek agricultural enterprises in Belarus, and the development of direct supplies of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products.

“We brought with us to Belarus entrepreneurs engaged in livestock farming and agricultural production who plan to open a trade house,” Vakhabov said. According to him, negotiations have already taken place in the Vitebsk Region, where the parties saw significant potential for cooperation. In Smarhon, Uzbek investors are already implementing projects in the hotel business, and by 2027 they plan to launch yarn production, which is in demand on the Belarusian market.

Negotiations were also held at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the participation of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Dorofeychik, Chairperson of the Belarusian light industry concern Nadezhda Lazarevich, and Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee Aleksander Evseev.

In addition, Belarus and Uzbekistan intend to expand cooperation in the field of civil aviation. During a meeting between the Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Aleksey Lyakhnovich and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Rakhmatulla Nazarov, the possibility of increasing flight frequency was discussed in order to boost tourism potential and strengthen business ties.
