PAGE INDUSTRIES EXPLORES NEW MANUFACTURING FACILITY TO SUPPORT APPAREL GROWTH

Jockey licensee evaluates four states for a proposed ₹300-crore investment as it looks to expand production capacity and strengthen its nationwide presence.

BENGALURU: Page Industries Ltd, the exclusive licensee of Jockey in India, is exploring locations for a new apparel manufacturing facility as part of its strategy to strengthen domestic production capabilities and support the growing demand for branded clothing. The company is evaluating potential sites in Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana for the proposed investment, which could reach approximately ₹300 crore. According to Managing Director V. S. Ganesh, the project is currently at the blueprint stage and may take around 12–18 months to complete.

Alongside the proposed facility, Page Industries is planning to operationalise two smaller satellite manufacturing units near its existing major facilities in Odisha and Karnataka early in the next financial year. The company currently operates 16 manufacturing facilities, and the planned capacity additions are expected to strengthen its production network, improve operational flexibility and support its expanding retail operations.

The manufacturing expansion is closely linked to the company’s ambitious retail growth strategy. Page Industries plans to add approximately 125–150 stores annually over the next four to five years, reflecting its confidence in the growing market for branded innerwear and apparel. Digital channels are also gaining importance, currently contributing around 16–17% of the company’s business, with management expecting the share to move towards 30% over the next three to five years.

While expansion remains a priority, rising labour, freight and petrochemical-related costs are creating pressure across the apparel value chain. Page Industries is focusing on productivity improvements, efficient sourcing and supply-chain optimisation to manage these challenges. The proposed investment underlines the continuing importance of domestic manufacturing capacity as India’s organised apparel market evolves, with companies increasingly aligning production infrastructure, retail networks and digital channels to capture emerging opportunities.
