South Korea’s ShinWon Explores Textile Investment Projects in Uzbekistan
South Korean apparel manufacturer ShinWon Corporation is exploring potential investment projects in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region as the two sides seek to expand high-value-added apparel production, increase exports and strengthen the region’s integration into global textile supply chains.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Fergana Governor Khayrullo Bozorov and Sung Hwan, Vice President for Industrial Strategy at ShinWon Corporation. The meeting focused on opportunities to make greater use of Fergana’s existing textile manufacturing capacity, expand finished-garment production and develop new investment projects targeting international markets.
ShinWon Corporation brings extensive experience in apparel manufacturing, fashion and international exports. The company produces clothing for men, women and children and provides OEM and ODM manufacturing services to international customers. According to the Fergana regional administration, ShinWon’s products are exported to more than 40 countries, providing the company with an established international manufacturing and distribution network.
During the meeting, the Uzbek side presented Fergana’s textile production infrastructure, skilled workforce and opportunities for expanding finished apparel manufacturing. The discussions highlighted the potential to move beyond intermediate textile production and increase the region’s output of higher-value finished products.
The two sides also examined opportunities to introduce modern technologies and international production standards into garment manufacturing, integrate local textile companies into international supply chains and expand access to overseas markets. Combining ShinWon’s international manufacturing and export expertise with Fergana’s existing industrial capacity and workforce could support the development of new export-oriented production facilities.
Fergana’s regional administration said the region has created favourable conditions for foreign investors and is ready to cooperate with ShinWon Corporation on mutually beneficial projects. Greater participation by international apparel manufacturers could help strengthen the region’s textile ecosystem while improving its ability to compete in global markets.
For Fergana, the potential partnership could contribute to increasing the share of finished and higher-value-added products in textile exports. It could also create opportunities for local manufacturers to become part of international production networks and gain access to new markets through established global supply chains.
The two sides agreed to conduct a detailed assessment of promising areas of cooperation and continue discussions on potential investment projects. The talks form part of Fergana’s broader efforts to attract foreign investment into textile and garment manufacturing and strengthen the region’s position in international textile and apparel supply chains.
