Russia India textile cooperation agreement
Russia and India have agreed to deepen their partnership in the textile industry, with plans to expand production and increase trade in raw materials, finished textiles, and equipment.

The discussions took place in Moscow between Russia’s Deputy Ministers of Industry and Trade, Aleksey Gruzdev and Ivan Kulikov, and India’s Minister of State for Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The talks focused on the comprehensive development of the light industry sector. Both sides agreed to encourage cooperation between Indian manufacturers and major Russian brands, retail chains, and e-commerce platforms. To strengthen commercial ties further, the two countries will also support specialized trade fairs and exhibitions within the textile industry.

At the same time, collaboration in agriculture between Moscow and New Delhi is also expanding. According to the Russian government, agricultural trade between the two nations grew by more than 60 per cent last year. During recent talks in New Delhi, India’s Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Patrushev, agreed to intensify cooperation in agriculture, focusing on boosting trade and developing seed traceability systems.
