Integrated manufacturing, renewable energy investments and ₹3,000 crore expansion plan position the company for the next phase of growth
Garden Silk Mills is reinforcing its position in India’s polyester industry through a combination of vertical integration, renewable energy adoption, and strategic capacity expansion. The company is focusing on strengthening its manufacturing capabilities while improving supply chain resilience and supporting long-term sustainable growth.
According to Amitava Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer of Garden Silk Mills Private Limited, the company’s integrated business model covers the entire polyester value chain—from raw materials and polyester yarn to fabrics and finished garments through its sister company, Garden Silk Fashions. This integrated approach enables quicker response to changing market trends, improved cost efficiency, and enhanced operational flexibility.
The company is also accelerating its sustainability initiatives by transitioning from conventional power sources to a hybrid renewable energy system combining solar and wind energy. Renewable power consumption is expected to increase significantly, while a dedicated Centre of Excellence has been established to advance circular economy practices, textile recycling, and product innovation. Garden Silk is also collaborating with IIT Delhi on advanced textile recycling research.
To meet growing demand for value-added polyester products, Garden Silk plans to invest nearly ₹3,000 crore in expanding its polymer-to-yarn manufacturing capacity. The investment will strengthen production of specialty polyester yarns and support the company’s long-term growth strategy.
The company also believes India’s recently concluded Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with the United Kingdom and the European Union will create fresh opportunities for textile exports. Although Garden Silk primarily serves the domestic market, it is well positioned to supply high-quality specialty yarns to export-oriented manufacturers.
With India’s expanding trade partnerships, growing emphasis on sustainability, and the global “China Plus One” sourcing strategy, Garden Silk sees significant opportunities for the country’s polyester sector to emerge as a globally competitive manufacturing hub.
