PM Modi Inaugurates New Garment Manufacturing Facility in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated a new garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The development is expected to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s textile and apparel manufacturing sector while creating new employment opportunities.

The predominantly women-led initiative reflects a focus on inclusive industrial development and greater participation of women in the workforce. With Arvind Limited serving customers across international markets, the facility is expected to support the production of garments in Varanasi for global markets, strengthening India’s textile and apparel manufacturing ecosystem and expanding the region’s integration into international supply chains.

The inauguration took place during the Prime Minister’s visit to his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, where he was also scheduled to attend the Indian Air Force’s Wings Over Ganges aerial display at Namo Ghat. The event marks the 94th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Air Force and is set to feature prominent aircraft and aerobatic display teams.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the Prime Minister to Varanasi ahead of the event, highlighting the Indian Air Force’s valour and operational capabilities. The aerial display is scheduled to feature the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, the Sarang Helicopter Display Team, and aircraft including the Tejas, LCH Prachand, SU-30MKI and Rafale, alongside transport and refuelling aircraft. Aircraft from the Indian Navy and Indian Army are also expected to participate, showcasing joint operational capabilities.

Arvind Limited’s new facility represents a significant development for garment manufacturing in Varanasi, with the potential to generate employment, encourage industrial investment and strengthen India’s position in the global textile and apparel supply chain.
