Pallavaa Group Announces ₹1,000-Crore Textile Manufacturing Investment

Pallavaa Group to Invest ₹1,000 Crore in Virudhunagar Textile Facility
Pallavaa Group Announces ₹1,000-Crore Investment in Integrated Textile Manufacturing

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Pallavaa Group, a major Indian manufacturer of man-made fibre (MMF) yarns and fabrics, has announced an investment of ₹1,000 crore to establish a new integrated manufacturing facility at the PM-MITRA Textile Park in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu.

The project is expected to strengthen the group’s presence across the MMF value chain by bringing spinning, weaving, knitting and processing operations under one integrated facility.

The investment comes as global demand continues to grow for viscose, modal and blended textile products, particularly as brands seek sustainable materials and dependable supply chains.

Expanding Integrated Manufacturing

The PM-MITRA Park in Virudhunagar, spread across more than 1,000 acres, provides infrastructure including plug-and-play facilities, uninterrupted power, zero-liquid-discharge water treatment and worker housing.

Pallavaa Group said the integrated infrastructure will support the development of its new manufacturing operations while helping improve production efficiency and sustainability.

The investment builds on the company’s nearly five-decade presence in the textile industry. Pallavaa began operations as a weaving enterprise in 1977 and entered spinning in 1991. Since then, the group has expanded through modernisation and backward integration, developing expertise in MMF yarns and fabrics.

Today, Pallavaa operates eight manufacturing units in the Pallipalayam cluster and exports sustainable yarns and fabrics to customers in more than 40 countries. Its product portfolio includes viscose, modal, lyocell, bamboo and blended products incorporating cotton and recycled polyester.

Strong Existing Production Base

Pallavaa currently produces around 330 tonnes of yarn per day, across ring-frame and vortex spinning operations. Its weaving facilities have a capacity of approximately 600,000 metres of fabric per day, while knitting capacity stands at around 20–25 tonnes per day.

With nearly 200 vortex machines, the group is also among the largest vortex yarn producers outside China.

The new Virudhunagar project is expected to complement this existing manufacturing base rather than serve as a standalone capacity expansion. By integrating spinning with downstream weaving, knitting and processing, Pallavaa aims to respond more efficiently to changing customer requirements and develop products across a wider section of the textile value chain.

Technology and Sustainability Focus

Technology and automation remain central to Pallavaa’s manufacturing strategy. The group has invested in systems including auto-doffing and automated material handling to improve productivity, consistency and operational efficiency.

Sustainability is another key focus. Pallavaa has set a target of becoming carbon-neutral by 2035 and currently sources nearly 90% of its energy from green sources. The company also highlights the sustainability benefits of vortex spinning and continues to focus on waste reduction, process optimisation and energy efficiency.

Supporting Global Growth

The ₹1,000-crore investment represents a significant increase in the scale of Pallavaa’s capital commitments. The company has historically invested around ₹200 crore annually in modernisation and capacity expansion.

With its established MMF expertise, export presence, integrated manufacturing capabilities and focus on sustainable products, Pallavaa is positioning the Virudhunagar facility to serve both domestic and international markets.

The project is expected to further strengthen the group’s role in the global textile supply chain while supporting its long-term strategy centred on innovation, sustainability, technology and customer-focused manufacturing.
