Bangladesh, India Urged to Strengthen Textile Supply Chain Cooperation
Bangladesh and India have been urged to strengthen cooperation in logistics, trade facilitation and cross-border connectivity to develop an integrated textile and apparel supply chain and improve their competitiveness in global markets.
The call was made at a special seminar titled “Advancing Bangladesh-India Textile Value Chains through Seamless Logistics and Trade Facilitation”, held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFEC) in Purbachal, Dhaka.
The seminar was organised by the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) in association with Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS-Global) as part of the ongoing Textile Series of Exhibitions.
Delivering the keynote address, Sparrow Group Managing Director Mustazirul Shovon Islam highlighted the need for Bangladesh to expand its production of value-added and higher-value textile and apparel products to maintain its position in the global apparel market.
He said access to high-quality textile raw materials would be essential to achieving this, with India serving as an important and accessible source. Rather than viewing bilateral trade primarily in terms of gains and losses, he called for greater collaboration between the two countries under the principle of “One Supply Chain, Two Countries and One Global Ambition.”
According to the speakers, closer cooperation between Bangladesh and India could help establish a more integrated regional textile and apparel supply chain while strengthening the position of both countries in international markets.
Participants also emphasised the need to improve logistics infrastructure, simplify customs procedures and facilitate the movement of goods across borders. Reducing trade and logistics barriers, they said, could make textile and apparel supply chains between the two countries more efficient and competitive.
The seminar was held alongside three major international exhibitions at BCFEC from 2 to 5 September — the 25th Textech Bangladesh 2026 International Expo, 26th Dhaka International Yarn and Fabric Show 2026 – Summer Edition, and 53rd Dye+Chem Bangladesh 2026 International Expo.
The exhibitions feature around 1,475 companies from 37 countries across more than 2,245 booths and pavilions, with organisers expecting over 16,000 business visitors.
Products and technologies on display include textile and apparel machinery, yarn, fabrics, trims, accessories, dyestuffs, chemicals and related solutions.
Five international seminars are also being held alongside the exhibitions, while a Digital Transformation Zone is showcasing technologies such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), automation, cloud systems, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and digital machinery.
The discussions underline the growing importance of India-Bangladesh cooperation in building a more connected, efficient and globally competitive textile and apparel value chain.
