NEXT Opens First Mumbai Store, Expands India Retail Footprint
British fashion retailer NEXT has opened its first store in Mumbai, marking a major step in its retail expansion in India through a partnership with Myntra Jabong India Pvt Ltd (MJIPL) and licensed franchise partners.
The 12,000-plus sq ft store offers around 1,000 styles across women’s, men’s and kids’ wear. The assortment includes dresses, shirts, T-shirts, trousers, denims, shorts and co-ord sets, with select styles planned exclusively for the Mumbai store.
NEXT entered the Indian market in 2023 and has since expanded its presence across Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. MJIPL holds the licensed rights to distribute NEXT products in India through a franchise model and is supporting the brand’s broader omnichannel expansion.
Venu Nair, Chief of Strategic Partnerships and Omni-channel at Myntra, said Mumbai’s position as a leading fashion market makes it an important addition to NEXT’s India growth strategy. He added that the partnership with MJIPL and franchise partners aims to make NEXT’s British fashion offering more accessible to Indian consumers through an integrated retail experience.
Founded in 1982, NEXT is a British retailer offering apparel, footwear and home products. The company operates more than 460 stores in the UK and 265 international franchise outlets, while its online business serves customers across 80 countries.
The Mumbai launch further strengthens NEXT’s growing offline presence in India and expands its reach across key fashion markets.
