AMANN collaborates with Resortecs in production of heat-dissolvable sewing threads for efficient textile recycling
As already sneak-previewed at Texprocess Fair, we are happy to announce our partnership  with the Belgian company Resortecs in production of heat-dissolvable sewing threads following the design-for-disassembly approach.

For decades, garments have been designed to last, but never to come apart.

Now, together with Resortecs, we are bringing design-for-disassembly to industrial scale, embedding circularity directly into the way garments are made. As an eco-design front runner, Resortecs makes textile recycling easy through innovative design-for-disassembly technology and by connecting brands, sorters, and recyclers.

The target with the partnership is to industrialize Design-for-Disassembly in fashion using Resortecs’ Smart Stitch™ heat-dissolvable sewing threads. This integrates circularity, enabling automatic garment disassembly, optimizing material recovery, and high-grade recycling at scale.

With Smart Stitch™ sewing threads, engineered by Resortecs, now produced by AMANN, brands can integrate design-for-disassembly into their products without changing how they design, source, produce, or perform. The heat-dissolvable sewing threads allow easy disassembly and more efficient downstream processing.

This also opens new possibilities across the product lifecycle: garments can be repaired, components can be reused, and unsold or returned products can be recovered and reintegrated into new value streams.

Garments stitched with Smart Stitch™ can be disassembled on an industrial scale thanks to Smart Disassembly™, a low-emissions thermal disassembly system enabling to recover up to 90% of clothing’s fabric.
