India and Romania Strengthen Fashion and Textile Cooperation Ahead of Pasarela 2026

India is set to participate as Country of Honour at Pasarela International Fashion Festival 2026, creating opportunities for Indian textile, fashion and handicraft businesses to connect with Romanian and European markets.

India and Romania are exploring stronger commercial cooperation in the fashion and textile sectors following a hybrid B2B interaction organised by the Embassy of India in Bucharest on September 18, 2026. The meeting brought together Romanian stakeholders and Indian companies to discuss business opportunities across fashion, textiles and creative industries.

A key focus of the interaction was Pasarela International Fashion Festival 2026, scheduled to take place in Bucharest from December 3 to 6 at Romexpo. India is set to participate as the Country of Honour, providing a platform for Indian companies and designers to present their products and capabilities to Romanian and European industry stakeholders.

The Indian participation is expected to include fashion designers, textile manufacturers, handloom and handicraft enterprises, jewellery businesses and other creative-industry participants. The event will provide opportunities to showcase India’s textile heritage alongside contemporary fashion, sustainable textiles and technology-driven production.

The B2B interaction also explored potential partnerships involving sourcing, distribution, joint collaborations and international fashion platforms. Indian companies participating virtually interacted with Pasarela representatives during a dedicated question-and-answer session.

India’s Embassy in Bucharest highlighted the country’s broad textile and apparel ecosystem, which includes traditional handlooms and handicrafts, manufacturing capabilities, sustainable textile production and contemporary fashion design. The discussions focused on translating these capabilities into stronger commercial connections with Romanian businesses.

For Indian textile and fashion companies, participation in Pasarela 2026 could provide opportunities to meet European buyers, fashion houses, designers, distributors and other industry stakeholders. The Embassy is encouraging greater participation from Indian enterprises to support business partnerships and market opportunities in Romania and the wider European region.

The initiative also comes amid broader efforts to strengthen India-Romania economic engagement. The Embassy said fashion and textiles can contribute to bilateral trade through their manufacturing, employment, design and export potential.

The upcoming festival will therefore provide an international platform for Indian textile and fashion businesses to present products ranging from traditional crafts and handloom textiles to modern sustainable and technology-enabled textile production. The Embassy plans to continue working with Romanian counterparts, industry associations and Indian business organisations to facilitate further commercial engagement.
