Textile Ministry Strengthens Policy Planning Through ICRIER Collaboration
Ministry of Textiles has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations to strengthen data-driven policymaking and analytical research for India’s textile and apparel sector.

Through the partnership, ICRIER will provide research expertise and technical support aimed at improving textile-related data systems and generating policy insights to support the growth of the textile industry, which plays a significant role in India’s manufacturing output, exports, and employment generation.

The agreement was signed by Akhilesh Kumar, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Textiles, and Shekhar Aiyar, Director and Chief Executive of ICRIER. ICRIER, an autonomous economic policy research organisation, is known for its work in areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, climate policy, digital economy, employment, and sustainability.

The institution conducts research through multiple focus areas, including macroeconomics, external trade relations, agricultural policy, digital innovation, and climate and urban sustainability.
