Odisha Textile and Apparel Investment Reaches ₹66,392 Crore

Odisha Textile and Apparel Investment Reaches ₹66,392 Crore
Two-day investor outreach secures 38 MoUs worth ₹64,703 crore, with textile and apparel manufacturing among the key focus areas

Odisha has attracted investment proposals worth ₹66,392 crore with the potential to generate approximately 54,135 jobs following a two-day investment outreach programme in New Delhi.

The outreach, led by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, resulted in 38 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) involving proposed investments of ₹64,703 crore. The state also received Investment Intention Forms representing an additional ₹1,689 crore.

The investment engagement comes as Odisha seeks to strengthen its industrial base and attract new projects across manufacturing, textiles, apparel, engineering, aluminium downstream industries and other sectors.

Textile and Apparel Sector in Focus

A dedicated Textile and Apparel Roundtable, organised in association with the Noida Apparel Export Cluster, formed part of the Delhi outreach. Discussions focused on opportunities in textile and apparel manufacturing, export growth, skilled workforce development and employment-intensive investments.

The focus on textiles and apparel reflects the sector’s potential to support large-scale employment while strengthening Odisha’s participation in domestic and international supply chains.

The state is also seeking to develop stronger connections between manufacturers, suppliers, exporters and ancillary industries, creating opportunities for value addition across the textile and apparel ecosystem.

Expanding Manufacturing Opportunities

The outreach also included an Engineering Goods Manufacturing Roundtable, which examined opportunities in manufacturing, industrial infrastructure, ancillary development and supply-chain integration.

An Aluminium Ancillary and Downstream Roundtable, organised in association with NALCO, explored opportunities for aluminium value addition, downstream manufacturing and greater participation by MSMEs.

These sector-focused engagements are aimed at developing integrated industrial ecosystems in which manufacturers can access supporting industries, skilled labour, infrastructure and supply-chain partners.

During his Delhi visit, Majhi also visited the Haier manufacturing facility in Noida, where he reviewed manufacturing processes and interacted with company officials and technical teams. The visit provided an opportunity to examine advanced manufacturing practices and explore potential opportunities in electronics, consumer durables, supply chains and ancillary industries.

“Odisha is building an ecosystem where industries can grow, create jobs and build long-term value. Our focus is not only on attracting investment, but also on creating employment, strengthening local supply chains and opening new opportunities for the youth,” Majhi said.

Focus on Investment and Employment

The Odisha government said the response from industry during the two-day engagement reflects growing interest in the state’s investment ecosystem.

“The response from industry during these two days has been very encouraging. We have received investment proposals of around ₹66,392 crore. This has been a successful investor outreach and reflects the growing confidence of industry in Odisha,” Majhi said.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the government’s priority is to facilitate investors, strengthen sector-specific value chains and generate employment.

The proposed investments could create opportunities not only for large manufacturing projects but also for MSMEs, suppliers, textile units, ancillary manufacturers, logistics providers and other businesses connected to industrial supply chains.

As Odisha continues its investment outreach, the state is positioning itself as an emerging destination for manufacturing and export-oriented industries. For the textile and apparel sector, the emphasis on skilled workforce, manufacturing capacity, exports and supporting infrastructure could provide further opportunities for industry growth.

The latest investment proposals are part of Odisha’s broader efforts to advance the Purvodaya initiative and strengthen industrial development in eastern India.
