RSWM Showcases Milkweed Fibre Innovation to Union Textile Minister
RSWM Limited has showcased its latest textile innovation, Milkweed fibre, to Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh, highlighting the potential of the natural fibre as a sustainable and value-added material for the textile industry.
The innovation was presented during a meeting between Rajeev Gupta, Joint Managing Director of RSWM Limited, the company’s senior leadership team and Giriraj Singh. As part of the interaction, RSWM showcased its Milkweed fibre along with a ready-made garment developed using the material, demonstrating its potential for practical textile applications.
Milkweed fibre is known for its lightweight, warm and silky characteristics, making it a potential material for a range of textile applications. RSWM highlighted opportunities for the fibre in products designed for colder regions while also exploring its wider potential within the global textile value chain.
The company said the development forms part of its broader focus on sustainable innovation and the development of new textile materials that can support India’s self-reliance and strengthen its position in international markets. The initiative also highlights the potential of converting underutilised natural resources into value-added materials for the textile sector.
RSWM acknowledged the guidance and support of the Union Minister of Textiles and the Northern India Textile Research Association in advancing the Milkweed fibre initiative. The company said collaboration and research support will be important in developing the innovation further and exploring opportunities for commercial applications.
On behalf of CMD Riju Jhunjhunwala and the RSWM family, the company expressed its gratitude to Giriraj Singh and the Northern India Textile Research Association, reaffirming its commitment to developing sustainable textile innovations and taking them towards global markets.
The initiative also reflects the philosophy of RSWM founder L. N. Jhunjhunwala — “we only take what we can give back to society” — which the company said continues to guide its approach to innovation, sustainability and responsible growth.
