India sees strong growth potential in textile exports to Japan, opening new opportunities for trade expansion and global market presence.
At the seventh joint committee meeting under the India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement held in Tokyo, India highlighted the strong potential for expanding exports of textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture products and services to Japan. The meeting was attended by India’s Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, who emphasised the opportunities for Indian industries to increase their presence in the Japanese market. Officials from both countries reviewed the implementation of the CEPA and discussed measures to strengthen bilateral economic engagement.
According to a release from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the discussions covered a wide range of issues including bilateral trade, investment flows and efforts to improve the business environment. The dialogue also touched upon global trade developments and preparations for the upcoming ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization. During the discussions, the Japanese side emphasized the importance of expanding and diversifying bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
Rajesh Agrawal highlighted the need to work towards a more balanced bilateral trade relationship, noting that sustainable long-term economic cooperation would benefit from greater participation of Indian exports in the Japanese market.
In addition to the committee meeting, a trade and investment roadshow was organized by the Embassy of India in Japan in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Japan Business Federation.
The event focused on promoting Indian exports and encouraging increased investment from Japanese companies into India, further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
