Loop Industries Moves Closer to Launching Major Textile Recycling Hub in India
Loop Industries has moved closer to establishing one of the world’s largest textile-to-textile recycled polyester production centres after its joint venture ELITe (Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Private Limited) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat in India.

The agreement is aimed at supporting the development of ELITe’s first commercial-scale manufacturing facility in the state. Under the MoU, the Gujarat government will assist the project through infrastructure support, regulatory clearances, and coordination of administrative procedures required for the plant’s establishment.

The proposed facility will serve as the largest production hub for Loop Industries’ proprietary “Infinite Loop” depolymerisation technology. The process is designed to recycle polyester textile waste and PET plastic by breaking them down into their original chemical components, which can then be transformed into new, high-quality polyester materials.

The company believes the project will contribute significantly to the growth of textile circularity by enabling continuous recycling of polyester-based waste into reusable raw materials for the textile and packaging industries.

India’s strong textile manufacturing ecosystem and Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure were key factors in selecting the location for the project. The state offers access to major supply chains, logistics networks, and industrial facilities that can support large-scale recycling operations.

The development also reflects the increasing global focus on sustainable textile production and advanced recycling technologies as brands and manufacturers seek alternatives to virgin polyester and solutions for reducing textile waste.

Once operational, the Gujarat facility is expected to become a major centre for textile-to-textile polyester recycling and support the growing demand for recycled materials in international markets.
