has entered into a partnership with to introduce US-produced industrial hemp fibre into India’s textile manufacturing sector, supporting the growing global demand for sustainable and traceable textile raw materials.
Under the agreement, Culturewell Hemp will act as the authorised importer and distributor of Panda Biotech’s industrial hemp fibre in India. The collaboration is aimed at creating a stable supply chain for high-quality hemp fibre that can be used across a range of textile applications, including yarns, fabrics, garments, technical textiles, and home furnishing products.
India’s textile industry, one of the world’s largest manufacturing hubs, is increasingly shifting toward environmentally responsible production methods as global brands and buyers demand greater transparency, sustainability, and verified sourcing throughout supply chains. The partnership seeks to help Indian manufacturers meet these evolving market expectations by offering certified and traceable hemp fibre alternatives.
According to the companies, the initiative is designed to solve challenges related to the availability of scalable, consistent, and export-grade hemp fibre. Panda Biotech President Dixie Carter stated that Indian textile manufacturers are actively looking for sustainable fibres that can compete globally in terms of quality, pricing, and environmental performance. She noted that Culturewell’s established distribution network in India would help accelerate the adoption of industrial hemp fibre across textile mills.
The partnership will combine Panda Biotech’s mechanically processed hemp fibre technology with Culturewell’s market reach and supply chain capabilities in India. Both companies aim to expand the use of industrial hemp fibre across India’s textile ecosystem while supporting international demand for sustainable and compliant raw materials.
The hemp fibre supplied under the agreement will carry OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and USDA BioPreferred certifications, ensuring compliance with recognised environmental and safety standards. These certifications are expected to strengthen confidence among export-oriented textile manufacturers and international buyers seeking verified sustainable materials.
The companies also highlighted the importance of traceability in modern textile exports. Panda Biotech’s fibre system offers end-to-end traceability, enabling manufacturers to track the origin and processing of materials throughout the supply chain. This transparency supports sustainability goals and regulatory compliance for global brands.
In addition, the partnership may provide Indian manufacturers with export-related advantages in certain international markets, potentially improving competitiveness against suppliers from regions such as Europe and China.
The collaboration reflects the textile industry’s broader transition toward low-impact, sustainable fibres and circular supply chains as manufacturers respond to increasing environmental regulations and consumer demand for eco-friendly products.
