Bilateral collaboration focuses on investment, technology transfer, and joint manufacturing to enhance Uzbekistan’s textile exports and global competitiveness.
Uzbekistan and China are intensifying their textile industry collaboration, aiming to expand global market access through increased investment, advanced technology transfer, and joint manufacturing initiatives.
The discussions were held during the Xinjiang–Aral Textile Raw Materials Summit and the 20th Cotton and Textile Industry Forum in Aral, Xinjiang, which gathered nearly 300 industry stakeholders. Key focus areas included polyester, viscose, lyocell, blended fabrics, dyeing, finishing, and automation technologies.
Chinese textile companies have shown strong interest in setting up production facilities and outsourcing manufacturing to Uzbekistan. These potential partnerships are expected to serve markets across Central Asia, the CIS region, and Europe, positioning Uzbekistan as a growing textile manufacturing hub.
In parallel, Uzbekistan’s Fergana region is actively seeking to deepen economic ties with China. Discussions between regional officials and Chinese business representatives highlighted opportunities for new investments and joint ventures, along with direct business connectivity.
Further strengthening these ties, a major Chinese goods exhibition is scheduled in Tashkent from September 2–4, featuring around 200 companies across sectors such as textiles, agriculture, construction, and energy.
Uzbekistan’s textile exports reached $2.6 billion in 2025, with finished textile exports rising by 18.5%. The country now aims to achieve $4 billion in textile exports by 2026. Leveraging Chinese expertise in automation, advanced materials, and manufacturing efficiency is expected to play a crucial role in achieving this target and moving towards higher-value textile production.
