Textiles Ministry Secretary Meets European, French Textile Leaders in Paris
India and European textile stakeholders explore stronger cooperation in sustainability, circularity, innovation and high-value textiles
Textiles Ministry Secretary Neelam Shami Rao held discussions with leading representatives of the European and French textile, apparel and fashion industries during her visit to Le Bourget in Paris.
The discussions focused on strengthening India-France and India-European Union cooperation in the textile sector, while leveraging India’s rich textile heritage and globally competitive manufacturing capabilities.
Key areas discussed included sustainability, circularity, innovation, fashion and high-value textiles. Both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening industry-to-industry partnerships and developing resilient, sustainable and future-ready textile value chains.
Rao, accompanied by representatives of the Indian textile industry, also visited Première Vision Paris and Texworld Paris, major international platforms for fabric and garment sourcing.
At Texworld Paris, 75 Indian exhibitors showcased India’s capabilities, product diversity and growing presence in the global textile industry.
The engagement comes as India seeks to deepen international partnerships and expand opportunities for its textile and apparel industry across high-value and sustainable segments.
