Karnataka Signs ₹2,821 Crore Textile Investment MoUs at Bharat Tex 2026, Set to Create Over 11,000 Jobs
New Delhi, July 16, 2026: Karnataka has reinforced its position as a leading textile investment destination by signing 12 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹2,821 crore during Bharat Tex 2026, with the proposed projects expected to generate 11,020 employment opportunities across the state.
Notably, Karnataka was the only state to sign investment agreements during the global textile exhibition held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The investments span key segments including spinning, apparel manufacturing, technical textiles, medical textiles, and textile parks, benefiting 10 districts across Karnataka.
The MoUs were signed during the “Investment Opportunities in Karnataka & MoU Signing” session in the presence of Commerce and Industries Department Secretary Rohini Sindhuri and Textile Development Commissioner and Director of Handlooms and Textiles A.B. Basavaraju.
Speaking at the event, Rohini Sindhuri highlighted Karnataka’s strong textile ecosystem, describing the state as a “Fiber to Fashion” destination that offers an integrated value chain from raw fibre to world-class apparel manufacturing. She emphasized Karnataka’s robust manufacturing infrastructure, skilled workforce, and export capabilities that continue to attract domestic and global investors.
The event also showcased the proposed Karnataka Textile and Apparel Policy 2026–31, which aims to attract ₹20,000 crore in investments and create five lakh jobs over the next five years under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
The upcoming policy places special emphasis on expanding textile manufacturing in Kalyana Karnataka and Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, promoting balanced industrial development and employment generation beyond major urban centres.
To strengthen investor confidence, the state highlighted several industry-friendly initiatives, including single-window clearances, plug-and-play industrial infrastructure, skill development programmes, region-specific incentives, and support for sustainable manufacturing.
Officials also showcased Karnataka’s expanding textile infrastructure, including the 1,000-acre PM MITRA Mega Textile Park in Kalaburagi, alongside established textile parks at Doddaballapura, Shiggaon, and Davanagere, which are expected to play a key role in positioning Karnataka as a premier textile manufacturing hub.
The session was attended by leading industry representatives, including executives from Shahi Exports, Texport Industries, Gokaldas Exports, and Manjushree Spintex, who welcomed the state’s long-term vision and expressed confidence in Karnataka’s investment-friendly ecosystem.
With fresh investments, large-scale employment opportunities, and a comprehensive policy roadmap, Karnataka continues to strengthen its position as one of India’s preferred destinations for textile manufacturing and investment.
