Textile PLI Scheme Boosts Maharashtra with ₹167.51 Crore Investment

Maharashtra has emerged as a key beneficiary of the Centre’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles, with 24 approved companies investing ₹167.51 crore in the state as of March 31, 2026, according to information shared in Parliament.

Responding to a written question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita said that 170 companies have been approved under the Textile PLI Scheme nationwide, including 24 companies from Maharashtra.

The approved companies in the state have collectively generated ₹177.75 crore in turnover while creating employment opportunities for 904 people, reflecting the scheme’s role in strengthening India’s textile manufacturing ecosystem.

The Textile PLI Scheme is designed to promote the production of man-made fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics and technical textiles by encouraging fresh investments, expanding manufacturing capacity, enhancing global competitiveness and increasing domestic value addition.

To ensure smooth implementation, the Ministry of Textiles conducts regular monitoring through periodic reviews, weekly open-house sessions and monthly workshops with beneficiary companies to address operational challenges and facilitate project execution.

In October 2025, the government introduced several reforms to make the scheme more attractive to investors. These included the addition of 17 new HSN codes under MMF apparel and fabrics, a 50% reduction in the minimum investment threshold, lowering the incremental turnover requirement for incentives from 25% to 10%, and removing the mandatory requirement to establish a new company to avail scheme benefits.

The application portal was also reopened until March 31, 2026, alongside extensive outreach programmes with industry associations to encourage wider industry participation.

These policy changes significantly boosted MSME participation. Of the 96 applications received during the third round, 65 applications (around 68%) came from MSMEs, highlighting growing interest among smaller textile manufacturers.

Among Maharashtra-based beneficiaries, Microtex Processors Private Limited of Kolhapur recorded the highest investment at ₹91.02 crore, while Spica Industries Private Limited in Satara invested ₹76.37 crore. Spica Industries also reported ₹177.75 crore in turnover and created 640 jobs, making it one of the leading contributors under the scheme in the state.
