Epic Group launches its first garment manufacturing unit in India with a $100 million investment.
Hong Kong-based global apparel manufacturer Epic Group has inaugurated its first garment production facility in India, located at the Kalibeti Industrial Estate in Odisha’s Khurda district.

The new Trimetro manufacturing campus, built with an investment of approximately $100 million, began operations just 15 months after its foundation stone was laid—marking a notably fast project turnaround.

Positioned as India’s first fully net-zero carbon and net-zero water garment manufacturing unit, the facility is expected to create around 10,000 jobs in phases, with women likely to make up nearly 80% of the workforce.

Spread across 40 acres, the campus is designed as a next-generation apparel hub, combining large-scale export-oriented production with sustainable, climate-resilient infrastructure. It features 32 production lines across two complexes, making it Epic Group’s largest manufacturing unit in India.

Chairman Ranjan Mahtani highlighted that the Odisha facility is expected to become a key manufacturing hub, producing up to 20 million garments annually for leading global brands. He emphasized that the project will help position Odisha as an emerging player in the global textile and apparel supply chain, while also focusing on job creation and skill development—particularly for women.

Describing the initiative as a model for sustainable industrial growth, Mahtani noted that the facility integrates renewable energy sources such as solar power, biomass energy, battery storage, and energy-efficient machinery to minimize environmental impact.

Director Anu Arora confirmed that production has already started in the first complex, which houses 16 production lines, while the second complex is expected to become operational soon. She added that the facility offers end-to-end capabilities—from fabric cutting to finished products, branding, and packaging—all under one roof, with a majority of output destined for export markets.

The plant was inaugurated by Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education, who described it as a landmark project completed in record time. He also highlighted its role in promoting women-led development and inclusive economic growth.

Epic Group, which began as a textile trading company, has grown into a global manufacturing enterprise with over 400 production lines across 17 facilities spanning Asia, Africa, the UAE, the UK, Jordan, and the United States, employing more than 40,000 people worldwide.

The Odisha project has received financial backing from the International Finance Corporation, which provided a $100 million financing package in 2024, including sustainability-linked and green loan components to support the Trimetro campus and Epic’s broader expansion plans.

With a strong presence in key markets such as the US, Europe, and Japan, Epic Group offers integrated solutions covering sourcing, design, manufacturing, and logistics for major global retailers including Walmart, Uniqlo, Levi Strauss & Co., Tesco, C&A, and Sainsbury’s.
