Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated India’s first operational PM MITRA Park in Warangal, developed with an investment of Rs 1,695.54 crore.
The mega textile park is expected to play a major role in boosting India’s textile industry, attracting investments worth over Rs 6,000 crore. Spread across 1,327 acres in Telangana, the integrated textile park has already allotted around 62 per cent of its area to industries. The project is expected to generate more than 24,400 jobs while creating thousands of additional employment opportunities across the textile value chain.
Speaking at the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi said the PM MITRA Park would strengthen India’s textile revolution and create large-scale employment, especially for women.
The PM MITRA scheme aims to establish seven mega textile parks across India in states including Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. These parks are designed as world-class integrated textile hubs covering the entire value chain under the government’s “5F” vision — Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.
According to the Textile Ministry, the Warangal park offers strong multimodal connectivity through railway networks and seaports, ensuring smooth logistics for domestic and international trade. The park is equipped with modern infrastructure such as internal road networks, dedicated power substations and assured water supply.
Industries operating within the park will also benefit from Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) under the PM MITRA scheme. Additionally, the government has allocated Rs 300 crore for each PM MITRA Park to attract investors and support industrial growth.
