Intertextile Shanghai 2026 to Showcase Sustainable Textile Innovations Through Econogy Hub
Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2026 Highlights Bio-Based and Recycled Textile Solutions

SHANGHAI: Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will return from 25–27 August 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), with a strong focus on sustainability and material innovation through its dedicated Econogy Hub.

As the global textile industry adapts to changing energy markets and evolving sustainability goals, the Econogy Hub will showcase next-generation natural, bio-based, and recycled textile solutions designed to support long-term industry growth. The platform will bring together certifiers, fibre producers, manufacturers, mills, and technology providers to highlight scalable solutions aligned with recognized sustainability standards.

With synthetic fibres accounting for nearly 60% of global fibre consumption, the industry is increasingly prioritizing material diversification, renewable inputs, and recycled resources. These trends are shaping sourcing decisions as manufacturers and brands seek greater performance, supply stability, and product differentiation.

The Econogy Hub will feature innovations that combine environmental responsibility with commercial viability, emphasizing how sustainable materials can enhance both ecological and economic outcomes. The zone is structured to facilitate direct interaction between exhibitors and sourcing professionals through dedicated displays, networking opportunities, and seminar sessions.

Previous editions have showcased groundbreaking technologies including bio-based dyes, waterless dyeing processes, advanced cellulosic fibres, bio-based leather alternatives, and recycled high-performance yarns from leading global companies such as Birla, Hyosung, Lenzing, LYCRA, Nilit, and Unifi.

Among the confirmed exhibitors for 2026 is Haelixa AG of Switzerland, which provides DNA-based traceability solutions that enable brands to verify material authenticity from fibre to finished garment. The company’s technology has already been used to trace more than 30 million garments and is adopted by international brands including C&A, OVS, and Hugo Boss.

Another participant, Hong Kong ZAKER New Material Technology, will showcase its Rborne polyurethane platform, a plant-based leather solution designed to deliver durability, scalability, and production efficiency while supporting the industry’s transition to bio-based materials.

Sustainability initiatives across the fair will also include the Econogy Finder, which helps buyers identify verified sustainable suppliers. More than 100 approved sustainable exhibitors are expected to participate in the upcoming edition.

Additional sustainability-focused programs will include the Econogy Tour, guiding visitors to selected exhibitors with strong sustainability credentials, and Econogy Talks, featuring expert-led forums and seminars on emerging industry trends. The Econogy Hub Display Area will further highlight innovative sustainable products showcased across the exhibition.

Beyond sustainability, the fair will feature a range of specialized sourcing zones, including the Premium Wool Zone, Accessories Vision, Beyond Denim, Essential Suits & Shirts, Functional Lab, the Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone, SalonEurope, and Verve for Design, reflecting the diversity and evolving needs of the global apparel textile market.

The event is jointly organized by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and the China Textile Information Center, and will be held alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC, and PH Value, bringing together the entire apparel textile value chain under one roof.
