Sanko Group to Build Integrated Textile Manufacturing Hub in Mirsarai

Turkish textile manufacturer Sanko Group has announced plans to invest $300 million in a modern integrated textile manufacturing facility at the Mirsarai Industrial Zone in Bangladesh, reinforcing the country’s position as a global textile and apparel manufacturing hub.

The investment proposal was announced during a meeting on July 28 between the Sanko Group delegation and Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Bangladesh’s Minister of Commerce, Industries, and Textiles & Jute. Md. Shariful Alam, State Minister for Textiles and Jute, also attended the discussions.

Sanko Group said the project marks a strategic shift from exporting textile products from Turkey to establishing a full-scale manufacturing base in Bangladesh. The new facility will produce fabrics, undertake advanced textile processing, and manufacture high-value textile products for international markets.

The company cited Bangladesh’s skilled workforce, strong export ecosystem, and favorable investment climate as the key reasons for choosing the country for its latest expansion.

According to Sanko Group, the project will introduce advanced manufacturing technologies, encourage technology transfer, and help local textile manufacturers enhance value addition while improving their competitiveness in global markets.

The company has completed preliminary site selection and has begun discussions with local partners. Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months after obtaining the required government approvals, with commercial operations scheduled to begin soon after.

Sanko Group has requested government support to ensure reliable gas and electricity supplies and faster regulatory clearances. The company also confirmed that the facility will adopt environmentally friendly production technologies and coal-free energy management systems to meet global sustainability standards.

The investment is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, strengthen Bangladesh’s textile exports, and attract more international buyers seeking high-quality textile products.

Welcoming the proposal, Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir assured the company of full government support, stating that Bangladesh remains committed to providing a business-friendly environment, modern infrastructure, and policy assistance for large-scale foreign investments.

He added that the project will contribute to the modernization of Bangladesh’s textile industry through advanced technology adoption, job creation, and greater export diversification.
