Ministry of Textiles Launches Nationwide Drive to Boost Textile Exports
India is taking a major step toward strengthening its position in the global textile market with a nationwide initiative aimed at achieving US$100 billion in textile and apparel exports by 2030. Led by the Ministry of Textiles, the collaborative effort brings together state governments, industry associations, and exporters to create a unified strategy for export growth.
A two-day summit was organized to identify opportunities and challenges across key textile hubs, including Tiruppur, Surat, Ludhiana, and Bhadohi. Discussions focused on expanding exports in high-growth segments such as technical textiles, man-made fibre products, premium textile categories, and GI-tagged products.
Industry stakeholders also explored ways to improve logistics, infrastructure, technology adoption, and international market access to enhance India’s competitiveness in global trade.
The initiative follows extensive consultations across 36 states and Union Territories and nearly 200 districts, resulting in detailed export action plans tailored to regional strengths. Insights and recommendations gathered during the summit will contribute to the development of the National Textile Export Roadmap 2030, a strategic framework designed to strengthen the textile value chain and drive sustainable export growth.
The move reflects India’s commitment to expanding its textile manufacturing capabilities, boosting exports, and creating new opportunities for businesses across the textile ecosystem
