USColorworks Expands Digital Printing Capacity with Kornit Atlas MATRIX and Atlas MAX PLUS
USColorworks, a North Carolina-based apparel decoration and fulfillment company, has expanded its digital production capabilities by adding Kornit Digital’s Atlas MATRIX and Atlas MAX PLUS systems. The investment is aimed at boosting high-quality, on-demand apparel printing across cotton, blended fabrics, and polyester while improving production efficiency and scalability.
As one of the first companies to adopt the Kornit Atlas MATRIX direct-to-garment (DTG) solution, USColorworks expects to increase its on-demand apparel and textile production by approximately 30%. The new platform enables high-definition printing on a wide range of fabrics and colors, allowing the company to streamline operations, reduce production complexity, and create new revenue opportunities.
The advanced digital printing technology also supports a true on-demand manufacturing model by minimizing inventory requirements and enabling faster direct-to-customer fulfillment. This approach allows USColorworks to produce custom orders only when needed, reducing waste while maintaining consistent print quality and durability.
As part of the upgrade, USColorworks is replacing its legacy production systems with the Atlas MATRIX platform, enabling seamless handling of orders ranging from a single garment to large production runs of 1,000 pieces or more. The transition is expected to shorten turnaround times, lower labor costs, eliminate the need for pre-treatment, and deliver a softer, premium-quality print finish.
The company is also reducing its dependence on labor-intensive direct-to-film (DTF) printing for short-run polyester jobs by shifting those applications to Kornit’s integrated digital infrastructure, further improving workflow efficiency.
Rodney McDonald, President of USColorworks, said digital production has significantly strengthened the company’s competitiveness and revenue growth. He noted that modern retail programs increasingly require suppliers to efficiently manage both bulk and on-demand orders, making advanced digital printing essential. According to McDonald, the Atlas MATRIX system has already resulted in a noticeable increase in retail customer demand and is expected to play a central role in the company’s future print-on-demand strategy.
