PM Modi Shares Article Showcasing Bharat Tex 2026 and India’s Vision 2030

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted Bharat Tex 2026 as a powerful showcase of India’s textile manufacturing strength, rich heritage and long-term Vision 2030 for the sector by sharing an article written by Union Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said Bharat Tex 2026 brings India’s complete textile value chain under one roof while reflecting the country’s manufacturing capabilities, traditional craftsmanship and growing global presence.

In his article, Margherita described Bharat Tex 2026 as India’s flagship global textile exhibition, taking place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from July 14 to 17. The event brings together India’s diverse textile traditions alongside modern manufacturing capabilities on a single platform.

He highlighted the industry’s significant contribution to the economy, noting that textiles account for 2.3% of India’s GDP, 13% of industrial production and 8.6% of exports, while supporting the livelihoods of over 100 million people as the country’s second-largest employer after agriculture.

Margherita said Bharat Tex 2026 features the entire textile value chain—from fibre and yarn to fabrics, apparel, home textiles, technical textiles and fashion—demonstrating India’s integrated manufacturing ecosystem under Prime Minister Modi’s 5F vision: Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion and Fashion to Foreign.

The exhibition has attracted more than 1,600 exhibitors, including participants from 14 countries, along with institutional representation from the United Nations and the European Union. The event is expected to welcome over 7,000 buyers from more than 110 countries, around 1.3 lakh trade visitors, and showcase over 20,000 textile products through more than 3,500 B2B meetings.

Sustainability and innovation remain central themes of this year’s exhibition. The Global Textile Dialogue features over 100 knowledge sessions led by more than 370 industry leaders, policymakers and experts, focusing on trade, investment, technology, fashion and sustainability.

Margherita also highlighted several government initiatives driving sectoral growth, including the PLI Scheme for Textiles, which has attracted investment commitments exceeding ₹31,687 crore, and the development of seven PM MITRA Parks to strengthen integrated textile manufacturing.

He further noted that programmes supporting handloom and handicraft sectors have expanded market access, improved infrastructure, enhanced skill development and empowered weavers through digital platforms and collateral-free financing.

Looking ahead, Margherita said Bharat Tex 2026 supports India’s Vision 2030 of building a USD 350 billion textile industry, while contributing to the broader goal of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047. He invited global stakeholders to participate in the exhibition and witness India’s innovation, sustainability and manufacturing excellence.
