Durst Como will serve as a strategic center for inkjet technology, software development, and innovation in industrial textile printing.
Durst Group has announced a €20 million investment to establish Durst Como, a new production and technology hub dedicated to digital textile printing in Italy’s renowned Como textile district. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the company’s position in the global textile printing market while expanding its research, development, and manufacturing capabilities.
The new facility will focus on the development of advanced inkjet technologies, software solutions, applied research, and production systems for industrial digital textile printing. Located in Lombardy, the hub is expected to become a key center for innovation serving both the fashion and home textile sectors.
Durst Como is the result of the integration of Aleph, a specialist in direct-to-fabric and paper printing technologies. Following the completion of Aleph’s acquisition and integration into the Durst Group, the new hub will play a central role in expanding the company’s textile printing portfolio and accelerating technological development in the sector.
The project forms part of Durst Group’s broader growth strategy in textile printing. Over the past decade, the company has invested more than €50 million in textile-related operations and technologies. With annual revenues exceeding €430 million, Durst aims to further strengthen its market position and support its long-term objective of significantly expanding business growth over the coming years.
Durst Como will become the company’s third major development and production center, complementing its existing facilities in Italy and Austria. In addition to manufacturing and research activities, the site will serve as a collaborative environment for customers, technology partners, and textile industry stakeholders. The company also plans to expand its capabilities in textile automation and software development from the new location.
Sustainability is a key component of the project. The facility will be developed within an existing building, reducing the need for new land use. Planned upgrades include energy-efficient infrastructure, heat pump systems to replace fossil-fuel-based heating, and a photovoltaic installation capable of generating renewable electricity. These measures align with Durst Group’s broader commitment to environmentally responsible industrial development.
By establishing Durst Como, the company aims to deepen its connection with one of the world’s most recognized textile regions while creating new opportunities for innovation, employment, and industrial growth. The investment reinforces Italy’s role in the evolution of digital textile printing technologies and highlights the increasing importance of advanced inkjet solutions in the future of textile manufacturing.
