Giriraj Singh Seeks Industry Recommendations to Accelerate Textile Sector Growth
Textile stakeholders discuss exports, sustainability, innovation, and policy reforms to strengthen India’s global competitiveness and manufacturing capabilities.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh held discussions with textile industry representatives in New Delhi to gather suggestions aimed at accelerating the growth of India’s textile sector, enhancing exports, and improving global competitiveness. The meeting focused on key industry challenges, policy support measures, and opportunities to strengthen India’s position as a major textile manufacturing and sourcing hub.

During the interaction, industry stakeholders shared recommendations on boosting investments, expanding production capabilities, encouraging innovation, and improving supply chain efficiency. Discussions also covered the importance of sustainable manufacturing practices, technological modernization, and creating a more supportive business environment for textile manufacturers, exporters, and MSMEs.

Giriraj Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to working closely with industry players to address sectoral concerns and develop policies that support long-term growth. He highlighted the importance of increasing export competitiveness while strengthening domestic manufacturing across the textile value chain, from fibre and yarn production to garments and technical textiles.

The discussions also aligned with the government’s broader vision of positioning India as a global textile powerhouse through initiatives focused on sustainability, innovation, and investment promotion. Industry representatives stressed the need for improved raw material availability, infrastructure development, easier access to finance, and stronger export support mechanisms to help the sector compete effectively in international markets.

The meeting comes as India continues to expand its efforts to strengthen textile exports and attract global buyers through major industry platforms such as Bharat Tex 2026. The government expects stronger collaboration between policymakers and industry stakeholders to help drive innovation, generate employment, and increase the sector’s contribution to the national economy.

India’s textile and apparel industry remains one of the country’s largest employment generators and a key contributor to manufacturing and exports. With growing emphasis on sustainability, advanced manufacturing technologies, and value-added products, the sector is expected to play an increasingly important role in India’s industrial growth strategy.
