Rajasthan Establishes Dedicated Textile Cell to Boost Manufacturing and Exports

The Rajasthan government has established a state-level dedicated textile cell to strengthen the state’s textile industry, enhance export competitiveness and accelerate sectoral growth under the Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy-2025.

As part of the policy, textiles have been identified as a priority sector, making eligible businesses for additional incentives through the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS).

The newly formed textile cell will focus on promoting textile manufacturing, supporting export-oriented businesses and encouraging the adoption of advanced technologies across the industry’s value chain.

According to the state government, Rajasthan exported textile and apparel products worth approximately ₹13,500 crore during 2024–25, contributing over 13% of the state’s total exports of more than ₹97,171 crore. The government aims to increase textile and apparel exports by three to four times in the coming years.

Rajasthan is home to more than 1,800 textile and apparel units and is India’s largest producer of wool while ranking fifth in cotton production. The state is also internationally recognised for its traditional textiles, hand block printing and other heritage crafts.

To strengthen export performance, Rajasthan has prepared district-level textile export plans covering 11 districts. These include the seven champion districts of Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur and Kota, along with four aspirational districts identified by the Central Government—Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Nagaur and Churu.

The state government is also planning to host a two-day Textile Summit in October, which will bring together textile manufacturers, exporters, investors and industry stakeholders from India and abroad to explore new business opportunities and partnerships.
